SECURITY HACKS:
1. Social Media Accounts Compromised
From July 3 to July 9, the following social media accounts were compromised and phishing links might be sent in these accounts:
The Discord servers of Waterfall@waterfall_mkt, Phi@phi_xyz, Porkies@PorkiesNFT, Thetanuts Finance@ThetanutsFi, Redacted Money@redacted_money, Paribus@paribus_io, SenSei Fi@SenSei_DeFi and
The Twitter accounts of Prime Protocol@prime_protocol, Aptos@Aptos_Network, Stellar@StellarOrg.
2. Multichain Suffers Exploit
On July 7, a multi-chain deployed cross-chain bridge Multichain@MultichainOrg suffered an exploit.
The root cause is still being investigated.
Various crypto assets including DAI, LINK, USDT, $USDC, wBTC and wETH were transferred out of the cross-chain bridge.
Crypto assets worth around US $126 million were exploited in this incident.
CONCLUSION-
11 notable security incidents have occurred in the past week. 1 was an attack on smart contracts and 10 were attacks on social media accounts.
It is worth noting that attack on Multichain caused a loss of more than US $126 million.
A Reminder for Project Teams: Always test thoroughly. Do smart contract audits before deploying smart contracts on-chain. Be alert to any anomalies happening in the various social media accounts you manage.
A Reminder for Crypto Users: Be cautious about suspicious links, emails, websites, and projects launched by teams without established reputations.
